In a startling revelation, the Hurriyat Conference (G) said on Sunday that a “state representative” came to the residence of Syed Ali Geelani on Saturday night to “facilitate his meeting” with Government of India (GoI) appointed interlocutor, Dineshwar Sharma. A statement issued by the Geelani-led Hurriyat (G) said that the state representative arrived during the intervening night of November 4 and 5 and “expressed his desire to meet Hurriyat Conference chairman Syed Ali Geelani to facilitate his meeting with designate interlocutor”. Dineshwar Sharma is scheduled to arrive in Srinagar on Monday. “Forced negotiations have no political or moral justifications,” the Hurriyat (G) statement asserted. “No section of Hurriyat (Conference) or group will meet designate interlocutor Mr Dineshwar Sharma or participate in this futile exercise.” “We will never disappoint our people,” the Hurriyat (G) statement said that the authorities “failed to budge this iron man (Geelani) and couldn’t break his resolve”.
